| Health Insurance The staff in the Health Office at the Student Placement Center will assist families to identify resources for health care and health care coverage:
- Saint Paul Public Schools work closely with Portico Healthnet in the process of assisting families to obtain health insurance coverage. Portico Healthnet works under a grant that allows them to work with families to determine their eligibility for coverage with Medical Assistance, General Assistance, Minnesota Care, or Portico Healthnet. Families that indicate an interest in Portico Healthnet's assistance complete a simple form while at the Placement Center. This form is sent to Portico Healthnet and they in turn will contact the family. Portico Healthnet has interpreters available and assists families in completing the required applications.
- Health Start operates clinics on site in most of the high schools. Families are given applications/authorizations for these clinics while at the Placement Center.
- Families are referred to St. Mary's clinics. St. Mary's clinics will see eligible patients at no cost for services.
- Families are given lists of clinics in the area that provide care with a sliding fee scale.
